Jim is a U.S. Army veteran, who served on active duty from 1971-1974. He graduated from Southwest Missouri State University with a degree in accounting. Jim and his wife Marjorie have been part of the Columbia Community since 1974, when Jim began as a staff accountant with MFA Incorporated. In 1984, Jim and partners Dave Dalton and Clifford Ravenscraft opened their public accounting practice in Columbia.

Jim’s accounting practice grew over the decades taking on several partners and staff. His firm has since merged with another CPA firm giving Jim more time to spend on his interests in travel, fishing and family.

Jim dedicates his volunteer time to his local church and the Boone County Historical Society. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Fred and Dorothy Hinkel Foundation. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants.
